London-Things to do
The Tower of London:
Our flight was delayed by many hours and this was what we had planned for day one. So we checked into our hotel, dropped off our bags and went as fast as we could to get there. We made it 15 minutes before the last entry for the day, thankfully we had gotten open time entry tickets. We got to walk the battements, see the Crown Jewels and the prison area.
There was some pretty stained glass at the Tower of London.
Big Ben
Trafalgar Square
The big lion statues and the fountain are worth seeing.
Hyde Park
I wish we had had more time to walk around Hyde Park. We walked through it on our way to the Natural History Museum, but we had slept in and were walking quickly to make sure we made it to the Natural History Museum in time for our timed tickets. It was a really pretty park.
The Natural History Museum
It had a huge section for dinosaurs. There were lots of full skeletons and some even looked life-like and were animatronic. The volcano and earthquake area was also pretty interesting. I thought the building was beautiful too.
The British Museum
We had timed tickets; but it was packed. I think we might have liked it better if we weren’t body to body with people. We didn’t think that would be an issue with timed entry. I thought there would be more big things; but most of what we saw were a ton of small artifacts. Our favorite parts were the Egyptian and Roman areas and the marble statues. We didn’t stay long though because it was just too crowded.
Back in 2004 I got to go to London. Here are a few things from that trip that I’d add to this list.
St. Paul’s Cathedral
I remember it being a very cool place to see.
Globe Theater Tour
I think it was an interesting thing to do.
The London Eye
This was a fun experience. We had some really good views of London.
