Useful Information-North Shore Drive & Duluth

We went to Duluth and along the North Shore drive in June of 2021. Our kids were 9, 7 & 2 at the time.

I wish I had known:

How pretty it is!

Transportation:

We used our car to get everywhere we needed to go.

Duluth has some crazy steep hills for roads.

Tips:

The Great Lakes can have big waves and things like rip currents and such. Always check about safety before going and be careful while there.

We use ROAD iD to order wristbands when our kids aren’t old enough to know our phone numbers by heart. We put their name, our names and numbers and where they’re from on them. It gives us a little more peace of mind while we’re traveling.

Laundry:

Laundry soap sheets for washing out swim suites are always a good idea.

The best parts:

Hiking

Seeing different kinds of beaches

Hotel Recommendation:

Black Beach Inn (Silver Bay, MN)

This hotel had a big waterslide! It also had a baby pool with a little waterslide. We checked in and thought we’d do the waterslide in the morning, but the water slide was only open at night. Before we swam we tried to find food, but NOTHING was open during the week. Luckily we had the makings for PB & J and chips with us. So I advise checking hours on anywhere that may sell food. We had to let the kids stay up late to get to use the waterslide. It was a lot of fun though!
