Spruce Creek Trail to Continental Falls & Mohawk Lake

We did this hike in July of 2022. Our kids were 3, 8 & 10. (We carried our 3 year old a lot.)

We really liked that this trail had blue diamond trail markers on trees. It kept our youngest excited to find the next one so that he kept going! I’m not sure if it always has those because about 2 miles in the trail was closed and there was a detour. The detour was really hard! About a mile of it was straight up. So I can’t really comment on the normal hike. What we did wound up being about 10 miles. I think the regular trail is about 7 miles. We thought the hike was challenging. Our older two kids were used to hiking and they had trouble doing this hike. Our youngest needed carried a lot.

It was beautiful. We saw the prettiest meadow on the trail.  We also got to see a mountain goat by the waterfall. It was just hanging out letting us take tons of pictures (from a safe distance!) Continental Falls was very pretty and so was Mohawk Lake.
