Useful Information-Puerto Vallarta

My husband and I took a trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico in October of 2023. It was just a couple of days after a hurricane. So we didn’t have quite the trip we expected; but we still got to do some wonderful things and eat some great food.

Marriott Resort

We had the all inclusive package. The staff were all very nice. It was a nice hotel with standard rooms. We did have a small balcony with an ocean view.

We ate at two of their restaurants. Casita was much better than the Japanese one. In our whole trip, the only time either of us had stomach trouble was after the Japanese place here-it was not fun. But the Casita restaurant was wonderful. We had many good meals there, but one of our favorites was the fried shrimp tacos. Their desserts were amazing.

They had a guy who walked around with a trained falcon to keep the unwanted birds away from the hotel area. That was interesting to see. 

They had a pretty good breakfast buffet too.

Belleview Hotel Boutique

This is the hotel we had planned to stay at. Due to the hurricane a few days prior to our arrival, it had no electricity. We had booked via a travel website so we could easily get a refund and switch hotels. We didn’t actually get to stay here; but it was the most beautiful hotel room I have ever seen. I’ll include some photos. The two ladies who were working were so incredibly nice. I wish we could have stayed here. It was a great location too.

Travel Shots:

We have a travel clinic near us that we can go to before we travel out of the country. They ask for vaccine records, look at where we plan to go and advise any vaccines we might need. When we went to Mexico we both had some vaccines (that didn’t exist when we were kids) to get, and another vaccine for a disease that can be in the area; I think it was typhoid fever. Our clinic was able to give us the vaccines we needed at the time of our appointments. 

Transportation:

We used ubers and taxis to get around on this trip and it worked out well. We walked a lot too. 

Laundry:

Having laundry soap sheets for washing out swim suites is nice.

Shopping:

One of my favorite things to do is to go to local grocery stores to get our snacks. It is so fun to try foods that are popular where we are. It is always a good idea to take reusable bags with you. Some places will have you buy a reusable bag if you do not have one.
